Year-Round Core Beers

LA Lager beer can

LA Lager

American Lager | 4.2% ABV | 18 IBU

NOLA Brewing's first year-round lager was inspired by traditional European lagers but made for those who know and love American lagers. NOLA Brewing fully designed this to be a beer especially for those who love the Louisiana lifestyle. This beer pairs well with any occasion, whether it's inside for hanging outside in the swamps of Manchac, parading in uptown New Orleans, or for all-day drinking on the levee.

Tasting Notes: This thin, crisp, and clean lager starts with an aroma of mild, bread-like malts with only a slight taste of oat cereal and very low bitterness.

Hops: Comet, Newport, Perle
Malts: 2-Row, Acidulated, Pilsner

Nola Blonde beer can

NOLA Blonde

Blonde Ale | 5.0% ABV | 22 IBU

You may have heard New Orleans is a drinking town. For many people here, much of life is lived with a beer in hand. Mardi Gras parades, football games, school fairs, garage sales, you name it. We created our flagship beer with that in mind. NOLA Blonde is a well-balanced, full-flavored ale brewed for year-round versatility. So whether you're grabbing a sixer to take to a crawfish boil or cracking one open to walk the dog, NOLA Blonde is always a nice choice.

Tasting Notes: Light on the palate, full-flavored and well-balanced. Five malts and two hops provide a nice blend of mild sweetness and bright bitterness.

Hops: Crystal, Perle
Malts: 2-Row, Acidulated, Caramel Pilsen, Light Munich, Wheat

Juice Canoe beer can

Juice Canoe

Hazy Pale Ale | 5.2% | 15 IBU

We won't get into details on how this beer got its name, but it started as an homage to our founding Brewmaster, Peter Cadoo. Juice Cadoo was where the name started! He retired in 2023, and we miss him. This beer is a constant reminder for our whole team of what he meant to NOLA Brewing and all his brewing talent. Drink it on those days where you want a little bitter bite to your beer but not too overpowering, and you want more than a couple. At a very reasonable 5.2% ABV, it's super sessionable.

Tasting Notes: Notes of tropical fruits and blueberry, with a light aroma of citrus and black pepper. A hearty addition of wheat and flaked oats creates a silky-smooth mouthfeel in this easy-drinking, sessionable beer.

Hops: Mosaic, Citra, Columbus
Malts: 2-Row, Wheat, Oats, Caramel

Tangerine Squeeze beer can

Tangerine Squeeze

Wheat | 5.5% ABV | 12 IBU

Summertime in New Orleans means it's really hot outside. Like really hot outside. To help beat the heat, NOLA created Tangerine Squeeze to refresh the body and take the edge off. This beer doesn't hold back on the fruit, so if you're looking for a citrusy refreshment, NOLA Brewing's got it taken care of for you.

Tasting Notes: American-Style Wheat Ale. Light-bodied and refreshing with a punch of fresh tangerine puree.

Hops: Crystal, Perle
Malts: 2-Row, Acidulated, Caramel Pilsen, Light Munich, Wheat

Hopitoulas beer can

Hopitoulas

India Pale Ale | 6.5% ABV | 48 IBU

Not counting the time the Beach Boys played the Municipal Auditorium in 1965, this is the beer that signaled the arrival of the West Coast in New Orleans. Finally, local hop heads and hop curious had a chance to sample a homegrown version of the famed West Coast IPA, and they were not disappointed. With a name that pays tribute to Tchoupitoulas Street, where our brewery lives, Hopitoulas gets its distinctive West Coast bite from a combination of six hops, with six malts providing a sweet, smooth finish. The result is a balanced IPA anyone can enjoy, from the experienced craft drinker to those just learning to love hoppy beer.

Tasting Notes: Balanced IPA in the West Coast style. Crisp hoppy bite with notes of pine and citrus. Malty and smooth on the finish.

Hops: Amarillo, Cascade, Columbus, Nugget, Simcoe, Warrior
Malts: 2-Row, Acidulated, Caramel Pilsen, Light Munich, Pale, Victory

Irish Channel Stout beer can

Irish Channel Stout

American Stout | 6.8% ABV | 41 IBU

If you love beer, chances are you love stouts. If you brew beer, it’s likely you have a stout in your repertoire. And if you happen to brew beer in a neighborhood called the Irish Channel, you’d be a fool if you didn’t name your stout Irish Channel Stout. This beer is our love letter to our neighborhood. Settled in the 19th century by immigrants from the birthplace of the stout, the Irish Channel is beautiful and beguiling, maybe a little scruffy but always charming, and flawed in all the right ways – just like us. Also, it’s home to one of the world’s greatest St. Patrick’s Day celebrations, where the Irish Channel Stout flows like the River Shannon.

Tasting Notes: Smooth, rich, dark and delicious. Strong espresso front end with a touch of baker’s chocolate on the finish. Balanced with a crisp bitterness produced by American hops and roasted barley.

Hops: Kent Golding, Newport, US Goldings
Malts: Brown, Chocolate, Dark Munich, Extra Dark Crystal, Pale, Roasted Barley

7th St. Wheat beer can

7th St. Wheat

Wheat | 4.5% ABV | 12 IBU

When it came time to make a wheat beer, we decided to make something with a strong sense of place. This would be our summer beer, so it needed to be exceptionally light and refreshing (which you’ll understand if you’ve ever lived through a New Orleans summer). The same sense of place is reflected in the fresh lemon basil we add post-fermentation, and we use it to impart a light citrus taste with a subtle herbal hint. Finally, we named the beer after the 7th Street Wharf across the street from the brewery.

Tasting Notes: Filtered American-style wheat ale. Light-bodied and refreshing. Citrus and herbal notes from fresh lemon basil added after fermentation. Pairs nicely with almost any seafood dish.

Hops: Crystal, Sterling
Malts: 2-Row, Acidulated, Vienna, Wheat

Seasonal Beers

Muses beer can

Muses

Belgian Pale Ale | 4.5% ABV | 20 IBU

Mardi Gras in New Orleans is the stuff of deep tradition. Catch a random parade, and there’s a chance someone stood right where you’re standing, watching the same parade when Grover Cleveland was in the White House. The Krewe of Muses isn’t one of the oldest, but it is without a doubt one of the best. The all-female krewe burst onto the scene in 2001 and promptly changed the game – big, boisterous and beautiful, with a new level of energy and artistry. It’s a crowd favorite across the city and definitely here at NOLA Brewing. So when it came time to make a Mardi Gras beer, who better to partner with than the ladies of Muses? Our Muses ale is offered during Carnival season with a portion of sales going to support the krewe’s philanthropy of choice. Mardi Gras is a celebration for the masses, so we brewed Muses to be a beer for the masses. A Belgian-style ale, light on the palate with low bitterness, select American hops providing a mild citrus edge to the traditional Belgian yeast flavor and aroma. Notably, Muses is a full-flavored session beer (4.4% ABV) so it can be enjoyed all parade long, whether from the float or from the street.

Tasting Notes: Light flavor balancing distinctive Belgian yeast and mild citrus hops. Slight sweetness. Clean and crisp.

Hops: Centennial, Citra
Malts: Weyermann Acidulated, Weyermann Melanoidin, Weyermann Pilsner

Darkest Before Dawn beer can

Darkest Before Dawn

Dark Lager (Dunkel) | 5.5% | 22 IBU

The days after Hurricane Katrina were dark indeed. But there was hope. It wasn’t long before hope grew into optimism and optimism turned into action across the city as survivors took steps to build the future. Our brewery was born out of this spirit. That the "NOLA" in NOLA Brewing actually stands for “New Orleans Lager & Ale” is a little-known fact, and understandably so, as we didn’t produce a single lager during our first seven years in operation. That changed with this Dunkel, a rich, malty, European-style lager. Released on the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina’s landfall, it’s a poignant reminder that it’s always darkest before dawn.

Tasting Notes: A pure Munich-style Dunkel. Dark copper to brown in color. Rich and malty with notes of sweet chocolate and caramel.

Hops: Horizon, Hull Melon, Vanguard
Malts: 2-Row, CaraMunich III, Karafe III, Munich, Munich II, Weyermann Dark Munich II

Berliner Blueberry beer can

Blueberry Lemon Berliner Weisse

Berliner Weiss | 5.25% | IBU

If it’s a tart delicious kettle sour Berliner Weisse you are looking for, look no further. This beer not only finishes fine, it looks even finer! With a beautiful reddish-purple color, this one truly needs to be served in a glass to all your guests at your next party. You better buy enough to share with friends because it’ll be hard for them not to want one when they see it!

Tasting Notes: Packed with an enormous amount of fresh blueberry juice to add an initial sweetness, this kettle-soured Berliner finishes with an intense citrusy tartness that compliments the sourness of the style.

Hops: Bravo
Malts: Mosaic, Citra, Columbus

Sour Beers

NOLA Funk Series

At NOLA Brewing, we loved sour beers before they were cool. They’ve long been among our favorite beers to drink, and Derek Lintern, our Brewmaster and Director of Funk, has been brewing them for years. While not for everyone, the popularity of sour beers has grown worldwide. At NOLA Brewing we are super proud of our distinct and unique wild ales we call our NOLA Funk Series. With a true barrel-aged sour program we have received accolades and awards for these distinct beers that take years to mature.

Arabella beer

Arabella

Brett Sour Ale | 5.5% | 0 IBU

Inspired by peach lemonade on the porch after a hot summer day, Arabella is sour fermented with 100% lactobacillus and peach puree to give it refreshing peach aroma. Arabella is sweet at first glance but incredibly tart, funky and complex once further acquainted.

Malts: 2-Row, Wheat, Oats, Munich, Acidulated

Bienville beer

Bienville

Lambic Style Sour Ale | 6% | 0 IBU

For New Orleans 300 Year celebration, we brewed Bienville with the centuries-old tradition in mind by starting with a day-long turbid mash, following inoculation with multiple strains of wild yeast and bacteria; including some from storied bottles of inspiration. Aged in a neutral oak for three years and blended with a small percentage of one-year stock just before bottling. Intensely sour, funk, oak and fruit like flavors, Bienville is rugged and persistent much like its namesake. Originally released for our 9th anniversary party, this beer matured wonderfully in the bottle.

Malts: 2 Row, Wheat, Oats, Munich, Acidulated

Desire beer

Desire

Raspberry Sour Ale | 5.5% ABV | 0 IBU

The perfect beer to pair with those warm and humid summer afternoons. Aged in chardonnay barrels and tinted red from raspberry puree, each sip of this beautiful and efferevescent beer will leave you wanting.

Malts: 2 Row, Wheat, Oats, Munich, Acidulated

Piety beer

Piety

Cherry Sour Ale | 6% ABV | 0 IBU

Named for the street in the Bywater, Piety Ale is Cherry Pie mixed to a bounce beat. Its blend of lactobacillus and brettanomyces make Piety sour and funky, while the red wine barrel aging and tart cherries show off its sweet and sassy side.

Malts: 2 Row, Wheat, Oats, Munich, Acidulated

Polymnia beer

Polymnia

Tropical Fruit Sour Ale | 5.5% | 0 IBU

Polymnia (another local street in New Orleans) was the Greek Muse of sacred song, music, dance and pantomime. Its only fitting we pay homage to this Muse at NOLA Brewing as song and music plays such a large role in our branding and our business. We love music here and we love to show off the talented musicians of New Orleans by hosting live music in our Taproom Barn on the weekends. This sour ale is infused with guava, mango, and pineapple. The tropical fruit and earthy funk make your taste buds dance and sing in praise of the Muses, living and past.

Malts: 2 Row, Wheat, Oats, Munich, Acidulated

Sauvage beer

Sauvage

Brett Pale Ale | 6.7% ABV | 15 IBU

The wild side of pale, Sauvage is a Pale Ale base fermented with Brett Blend (ECY34) entirely in French Oak barrels, resulting in woody and earthy notes. Sauvage is finished with not one but two encores of dry hopping. Because of the high level of aroma hopping, this beer is best enjoyed fresh, in good company, while getting a little wild.

Hops: Galaxy
Malts: Canada Pale, Munich II, Cara-Amber, Wheat, Acidulated
